The recipes in this book are for serious cooks and bakers. To be honest a little bit intimidating for someone who is terrible at both. It does a good job of explaining the techniques though and even giving advice on substitutes for hard to find ingredients. I also love how they give a short history on some of the dishes and always show where in the HP books they drew their ideas from. The one big con for me was the negative tone in which they describe American's eating habits. I have no illusion The recipes in this book are for serious cooks and bakers. I have no illusions that a good chunk of Americans have poor diets and eat way too much fast food. However, to sit there and say all we eat is burger, fries, pizza, and McDonalds is condescending and doesn't really take into account our nation's diversity and the types of food that diversity brings. While some households may find it normal to eat fast food there are plenty out there that find the opposite true or that live vegetarian, organic, or vegan lifestyles. I get the point the author/editors were making and maybe if they had backed it with some solid facts it would have more of a punch instead of just feeling like some terrible stereotypical overgeneralization of American eating habits. Okay rant done. Really though if you want to try some challenging, HP/very English dishes and desserts then I would definitely recommend this book.

Seems only potentially good for the Lemon Pop and Pumpkin Juice. From what I've seen from the full Unofficial HP Cookbook, (and of course Pinterest), these could definitely be better.

Lots of ice cream recipes Never tried to make homemade ice cream without an ice cream maker but would love to give it a try after reading this book. Pumpkin juice recipe sounds interesting too.

A fun way to bring the book series alive for the kids (or kid at heart). Great for summer treats with a Harry Potter theme. Especially if you are going out to see the latest movie or planning on a visit to the theme park. Lots of good ideas but I think I am going to have to buy the full length version for some of my favorite treats from the books.

I only own (and love) The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook and was thrilled to find this mini book I can carry around with me on my iPod Touch. And it was FREE! I'm making Triple Power Icy Lemon Pops this week and will make the Butterscotch Brew Slushies as soon as I have the ingredients on hand!

I'm not much into making ice cream, but I'd like to try the butterbeer and pumpkin juice. We'll see how it works out. =]

Recipes include: Butterscotch Brew, Butterscotch Brew Ice Cream Soda, Butterscotch Brew Slushies, Double Chocolate Ice Cream Cones, Paddington Burgers, Triple Power Icy Lemon Pops, Chocolate and Raspberry Ice Cream Cones with Chopped Nuts, Pumpkin Juice, Strawberry and Peanut Butter Ice Cream Cones, and Ice Cream Sundaes. Really, regular summery food with a Harry Potter-themed backstory for each (including which book and chapter in case you want to refresh your memory).

Honestly, I just did a quick flip through. There was some narrative on where the recipes came from and why they were included but I didn't read that. I mostly just looked at the recipes and honestly, most of them I wouldn't make and probably wouldn't eat.
