For the next twenty-one years Fuller served as the leader of this organization, raising funds, writing periodicals, recruiting missionaries, and sending personal letters to those on the frontlines. He fulfilled his promise to the great missionary William Carey, who upon his trip to the unknown world of India, looked at the small band of brothers around him and said, as it were, "Well, I will go down, if you will hold the rope." Andrew Fuller held the rope. Suffering the loss of his first wife, and eight of their eleven children, Fuller persevered in the midst of severe affliction and overwhelming responsibilities. He longed for unreached peoples to hear the gospel and championed the important (but often overlooked) foundation of doctrinal clarity. For these reasons and more, John Piper delivered a biographical message on Andrew Fuller at the 2007 Conference for Pastors. Standing as the emblematic "rope holder," Fuller's life is once again put on display for our encouragement and example in this new ebook. How do we give our lives to world missions if we feel called to stay in our homeland? How do we breathe the air of the world's lostness without living among unreached peoples? How do we grasp the importance of doctrine in fulfilling the missionary cause? Read Andrew Fuller.

Wasn't really a biography, although Piper did explain a little about his life when he was young, how he strayed away from the Lord and came back. The relationship between him and his father was touching, especially when the father and son parted. This was more about Andrew Fuller's battle against the wrong teachings and philosophy of Hyper-Calvinism which believed extremely in predestination, and Sandemanianism which considered Faith as the state of being logically persuaded. This was more about Andrew Fuller's battle against the wrong teachings and philosophy of Hyper-Calvinism which believed extremely in predestination, and Sandemanianism which considered Faith as the state of being logically persuaded. John Piper managed to explicitly summarize the problems with those 2 views, and the arguments Andrew Fuller used to protect the Bible's true teachings, which eventually became the core for Missions. Always return to the Word. One will not err, when one does so. That was Fuller's theology, and ultimately his way of life. All glory be to God!!!

An interesting look at an interesting man’s life and quick read as well.

This book really isn't a biography. Piper explains Fuller's theology more than giving details of his life.

This "biography" was vastly different than the others in this series. I felt that instead of a true biography of Andrew Fuller, it was more of a theological essay on Fuller's writings. With a very detailed explanation of Calvinism and Fuller's arguments for and against, I found myself skimming much of this short book. Not what I was looking for but may be better suited for someone else.

Ok, more theology than biography, but Piper does say that in the Preface/Forward of the book.

Very interesting and I learn a lot but something that I was lost that I didn't understand and didn't learn before reading this. I need more information to understand something.
