It appears to stay true to the book, and it started a little bit before the Hollowland novel, showing how the characters initially ended up in their situations after the start of the zombie apocalypse. This was an introduction more than anything. The story follows Remy, Max, Lazlo, Ripley, and Blue, and introducing that many characters into a 26 page graphic novel didn't allow for much story development. The installments are a little too short for me. Although the graphics were good, I would have liked colour. That is just personal preference. I definitely won't read the rest of the graphic novels installments until I have finished the series, but if you prefer a graphic novel, and enjoy a good zombie apocalypse tale, then this is the one for you. Try this installment for free from Amazon.

So glad to see this story finally turned into a graphic novel! It's been in the works for over a year with no updates, and I was beginning to think it wasn't happening. I ran by it completely by accident yesterday while searching for free content on my NEW KINDLE ~(^,^)~ So yes it's FREE through Amazon at the moment! And I realize I sound kinda cheap. Truth is, I'm extremely cheap. It's rare I pay full price for anything, when I do decide to pay for books at all. We're in a recession, ya know! Truth is, I'm extremely cheap. It's rare I pay full price for anything, when I do decide to pay for books at all. We're in a recession, ya know! [Is that excuse still working?] Anyway, fans of the books will be very pleased to hear that the comic contains NEW CONTENT! We get to see what each of the characters (Lazlo, Remy, Max, Blue, and Harlow) were doing with their lives when the plague hit. This is especially revealing for Blue, who was always kind of enigmatic in the book because he never got the chance to talk about his back story. I only noted one deviation from the book version (so far), which was pretty minor and doesn't alter the story significantly. (view spoiler)[Lazlo appears to be the lead singer in his band here, and Emeriso seems to play a bigger part in the whole zombie debacle... (hide spoiler)] So purists out there will not be too perturbed I think. Do note that it's still a new spin though. I'll be interested to see if this is going to take on a vignette format for the entire saga--that's what it was written like for Part 1--and if Remy will be the main character anymore--because the book begins with Lazlo's story and he seems to be the dominant character right now. It gives it a really strong opening, so that might be the reason. The art has a fun feel to it and some hilarious lines, but still has some of those gritty zombie killing scenes that we all fondly welcome. Very excited about this! I just hope we don't have to wait forever for the next installment.

#1 of 10 in Amanda Hocking's The Hollows: A Hollowland Graphic Novel It's been a long time since I read the original book that this graphic novel follows. This is only part of of that series, and I liked that book (even almost a lot, and have reviewed it as well,) but as I started reading this one, I wondered if I had lost my mind. I do not remember that book starting anything like the way this novel starts. Maybe I should keep my opines to my self, since I read that book so long ago...but still #1 of 10 in Amanda Hocking's The Hollows: A Hollowland Graphic Novel It's been a long time since I read the original book that this graphic novel follows. I read it twice to make sure I wasn't missing anything, but I felt the same way afterwards. Unfortunately, it wash;t enough to send me back to re-read the first book. But maybe if I do, this one will make a lot more sense. However, as it is, it really did not make me want to continue on with this story in graphic novel form. Two stars.

The first issue of The Hollows comic series gives the reader a look at the beginnings of Remy, Max, Blue, Lazlo, Harlow, and Ripley, and squashing that many characters into a 26-page comic is an interesting feat. The comic jumps around from situation to situation, only spending a handful of time with each. I'm not sure when or if I will be reading the rest of the story, but I hope subsequent issues choose maybe one or two characters and stick with them for the duration. That said, it was an interesting look at characters whose beginnings were not discussed in much detail, if at all, in the books, so it's worth it for that alone, at least while it's still free. :)

My first e-book. This is part 1 of 10 of a black and white graphic novel adaptation. This isn't much more than an introduction to the story. It is only 32 pages or so. I can not say how close of an adaptation it is since I have hot read any of the series. It did make me curious enough that I will seek out more of the series though(both the graphic novel and the books). Actually, I'd give this a 2.5 stars, but only because I feel like the comic picked up a little. The beginning was bad, then it got cliche. The introduction of so many characters was both good and bad. I feel like that was what increased my interest. At the same time, it felt like too many characters in such a small space. If I can get my hands on the other volumes, I'll keep reading, but I'm not interested enough to invest in purchasing any other volumes. I'm not sure how this got on my kindle app, but it was there so I thought I'd try it out.. It's only 26 pages long, so that's not a lot, certainly not enough to get me interested. Basically all that happened in this graphic novel was the introductions of the characters, and lots of people dying (which is kind of obvious during a zombie apocalypse). But no, it just felt a bit weird and I didn't enjoy it at all.

This was a fun, little look into the beginning-of-the-end lives of the Hollowland main characters. It was interesting to see exactly where everyone was when it all went down. This is part 1 of 10 parts, covering the 1st book only. My only complaint, aside from wishing all the parts were an omnibus, is that it's not in color. The covers are very nice, but everything else, though well done, is black and white.

A quick, entertaining read This comic is pretty short, read it in about 10 minutes. The story follows the lives of several small groups of people who are living during the early days of a "zombie plague". I would have liked the interior to be color, but it is black and white, at least on the kindle edition. The story is ok, not spectacular, but good enough that I'd read the next one in the series.

My Favorite Amanda Hocking Book turned into a Comic. I'm in heaven. Great start to the series. You get to see each of the main characters from the beginning of the apocalypse. This is something you don't see in the book and I really enjoyed it. Well done, great shading, and writing. I will be getting the next one.

An extremely quick read. Graphics were okay, but not phenomenal. The actual story is literally just the beginning so don't expect too much depth. Whether I buy the next few will depend on how much extra money I have to spend and if I buy the rest of the books I want. So the chances are very, very slim.

ughh i really like amanda hockings books but this one was kinda confusing i mean it was like each page was a different story if there are ten books all together i thought there could have beena little more of the story before it switched to someone else's story.

Interesting angle to another zombie plague I seem to have read this one before and it was interesting. Not sure if I was enticed enough to buy the entire series but for a discount it was a cool first episode.
