This is my my first book by this author and I read this book with Kindle Unlimited and then I brought this book for my library. I could write an entire dissertation on this book, but I don't have the energy. Just know it's a complete story, albeit a long one if you love sagas. Sweet Obsession is the introduction to the Men of Whiskey Row series. While the story focuses on the love of Jack Sullivan and Noelle Kramer, you will also meet the other two brothers Darby and Casey as well as Noelle's BFFs Avery and Sidra, who all get their own stories. If you have a short attention span, get ya mind right before reading because everything, and I mean everything, that is written will have some significance in any of the subsequent books in the series. For that reason, I suggest you start here before reading any of the other books. By the time you finish, you'll be torn (or maybe not) as to whom your favorite Sullivan brother is. It's Jack. No, Casey. No, Jack...😩 All of the books are available on Kindle Unlimited. Once you start, you will have to keep knowing what happens next because each book picks up directly from the last. Soooo good...

To say this story was good is such an understatement. This story was so good that as soon as I got to the end I started all over again. This was not only drama done right but it was done so very well. There so much chemistry between Jack and Noelle that you could feel it leap from the pages. There was such excellent chemistry with all the characters it was like coming home to old friends. This is a first with this writer I so look forward to the telling of the next insta Hooked ,Line And Holding On!!! This is the typical accidental/arranged marriage insta-love romance, complete with race issues and class disparities. Seems like the author put every trope in here: abusive childhood, blackmail, extreme alpha male, crazy mother, BEAUUUUUTIFUL, rich people... all of that. Nothing unique happens. You know what's coming at every turn. Well, there really are no turns, but you know what I mean. Characters are 2-dimensional, plot is recycled. None of these are deal breakers for me though. You know what's coming at every turn. Well, there really are no turns, but you know what I mean. Characters are 2-dimensional, plot is recycled. None of these are deal breakers for me though. I can read the same story over and over again as long as it's done well. However, this is the perfect example of how "self-published" should not equal "self-edited". I've read some negative comments on missing punctuation, continuity issues and such and I wholeheartedly agree. You know how "there's no crying in baseball?" Well, there are no exclamation points in literature. Or parentheses (you're telling a story, you should have to explain yourself.) This book needs an actual editor to go through it and it strengthen it up. That's a paid profession for a reason. The fact that you twirl around on your tippy toes doesn't make you a ballerina. Some things require training. Also, it's soooo stereotypical. Sassy, "curvy" black females. Whore-ish waitresses. And tell me where in the heavens you would find kids on a corner today beatboxing and breakdancing? Were they doing the Achy Breaky Heart across town? Seriously, please respond to this if you live in such a place. I'll head there on Throwback Thursday. Unfortunately, I was too distracted by errors and not invested enough in the story to finish. The only reason I give this two stars is because, for some reason, I can feel the author's enthusiasm about these characters jump off the page. That's why it's a shame it's so sloppy.

I bought this book because the story line sounded like a good one; in addition, there was a large number of reviews, and most of them were 4 and 5 star reviews. The book could have been a good one, but there were SO many errors: missing words, bad punctuation, incomplete sentences, and so many inconsistencies (Jack says that he's 10 years older than Noelle, and a couple of paragraphs later, their birth dates show that he's 6 years older; Darby is given one middle name, then 2 sentences later, he I bought this book because the story line sounded like a good one; in addition, there was a large number of reviews, and most of them were 4 and 5 star reviews. The poor editing frustrated me to no end. I was sorely tempted to stop reading, but I stuck with it, because I wanted to see what would happen. I will admit that I'd love to know what happens with the other characters, but I'm probably going to pass on the rest of the series.

It would have been 5 stars It would have been 5 stars except for the grammar mistakes. I really loved this book. There was good depth to the characters and good story building. I'm even looking forward to more books featuring the secondary characters. With that said, this book could have benefited from a better editor. This was my first read by this author and I really did enjoy it......Jack and Noelle made a GREAT couple.....they both had some issues to over come but all in all it was a good story....The only problem I had with this book was that there was so much information given on the secondary characters in the book.....I get that this was the first book of the series and the author was setting the tone for the other stories but IMHO this book was about a 150 pages too long.....

Some grammatical errors but definitely not a bad read for the authors first book. I loved all the characters (especially Casey and Sidra gah I have such a thing for the hate/love trope) and I can't wait to read the rest in the series. 4 solid stars just because I was entertained for all the tropes this book employed.

Good biracial romance Good read, characters are likable and the flow of the book was good. Only annoying thing is the introduction of the other characters whom I’m guessing got their own books, the author went into so much details about the other characters that I don’t think I need to eve read their stories.

Awesome story I could only give 4stars because, there were way too many grammatical errors. Though the characters were written to be colorful and were done with pretty significant depth, I was a bit disturbed by significant issues that both main characters displayed. Noelle was extremely self conscious & scarred by her family & their treatment of her throughout her entire life. Her self esteem was severly broken especially when Jackson was with her. Ugghh DNF. This author needs an editor stat. The story was inconsistent and so so so many errors. I grew so frustrated I gave up. The author changed perspective from one character to the next multiple times in a paragraph which made it hard to get into the book. The writing was stilted and it was just....bad. I just don't understand the high ratings. It could have been a good story with great editing but I'm not going to bother reading anymore of this series or this author for that matter.

So when I started this series I already started a different series by D.A Young. And I wanted to check out her other books to see if I would enjoy them as well. I really enjoy reading this series, Men Of Whiskey Row. My heart just broke for the Sullivan boys and what their father has put them through. It seems like a lot of the men in D.A Young series are trash, especially their fathers, and sometime their moms. I find myself very amuse by Noelle, she’s not exactly my character in this series but she is very amusing, and the mother of the group. I love the fact that the minute that Jack sees Noelle, he just knows that she is his wife, and mother to his kids. No one and I do mean no one will get in his way, not even her ex who wants to blackmail her. I have to say that I don’t agree with what he has done in order to gain her as his wife, but I do love the effort he puts behind it. Jack reminds me of many males today who would rather take the difficult way in life, rather than the reasonable way and speak about his feeling for her. I love how rough he is, and when Noelle tells him that at the end of their deal they are to get a divorce, and he’s like not going to happen. I wanted to as my wife for a very long time, and I’m not going to let you get away that easily. The beginning of the story is just so sad, I never expected a story to begin like that. And I really enjoyed it, I love the fact that D.A Young takes this sad part and makes it her opener. Then you get to see how far these men came in their lives, and how much better off they are. I really enjoy Noelle best friends Avery and Sidra. They are her ride or die, and will go up to bat for her, and vice versa. I love the relationship these three have with one another, and I really cannot wait to read what’s going on between Sidra, and The youngest brother Casey Sullivan.

Loved the characters and the premise. What was frustrated and what prevented me from truly enjoying this book was the author's writing style. She used flashbacks as a way of showing what's happened instead of just of just telling us in that moment. Flashbacks from earlier that day or the previous day is 100% unnecessary!!!! It completely took me out of the story. For example a scene where Noelle is opening her front door. Her friend Theo is with her. Jack opens the door and goes off on Theo. Ms. Ruby Why and when did Noelle decide she was going to treat Jackson like a brother? He d*cked her down seven ways from Sunday and the best she can come up with is brother? She’s married to him now!! WTF!! I’m at 80% and I’m over Noelle. What is she? 25? She is spoiled and has no critical thinking skills; but she owns a business? The only conversation she had with Jackson was while drunk... mmkay no. I’m waiting on the predictable friend and/or family member to come and “talk sense” into her. A heart felt ramance In the novel, Sweet Obsession, I met SulLivan brothers and fell in love with their characters. Jack, Darby, and Casey had a sad childhood because of their abusive father who killed their mother and then himself. When Jack met and fell in love with Noelle. She became his world. I liked Novelle devoted girlfriends. The sex parts in this novel was hot and emotional. The characters loved deeply.

I was so looking forward to reading the Men of Whiskey Row series. I ended up skimming Sweet Obsession and New Beginnings books. Both suffer from structural development. There are too many point-of-views, too many main characters, and the narrative is like traveling a winding road. The transitions to new scenes are uneven. As a reader, I felt cheated at a scene's conclusion, when I thought something else would happen.
