Man this is good stuff ! I mean Detective comics has been like some kinda drug for Batman fans ,especially considering how badly the Batman comics are since Tom King took over , and this is specially an amazing news since Detective Comics despite being a Batman comics at it's core has actually been less focussed on Batman and more on the Team that Batman has formed in Detective Comics Continuing with it's consistent run of awesome story telling combined with beautiful art by Martinez , The story Man this is good stuff ! With part 5 out of the way i can't wait for the next few issues and the finale that will truly define this arc

Detective Comics is in full blast, and there are absolutely no signs of stopping. Now this is how you start DC Rebirth. It is modern yet does not trample on the past. It is fresh and new and varied yet somehow it feels the same same ol' DC. We have seen rescue and escape action scenes before. And what makes it work is how the director or writer executes it - a plan going to fruition amidst all the action. Little about the story advances here, just guilty pleasure fun.

Much better than the last issue. I really want more Orphan, but I have a slight obsession with her, so I can't hold that against the production team.

'Detective Comics #938 is part five of "Rise of the Batmen." I'm coming in late, but I like what I see. It starts with a flashback of Colonel Jacob Kane, then cuts to the action. Batman has been training the next generation of vigilantes along with Batwoman and they find themselves taking on the Colony on their own turf. The team includes Red Robin, Spoiler, Orphan and Clayface. Last time they met the Colony, they lost, so can this team become cohesive and effective in this chaotic environment? I like the characters and the action. James Tynion IV has a good storyline going with some wonderful art. I loved the art, especially the cover. This book was fun to read. I received a review copy of this comic book from DC Entertainment and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this comic book.

These characters are so amusing together! I love their interactions, and I can honestly say I like all the characters (which is unusual).

Batman and his team are trying to fight their way out of the Colony’s “Cave.” They discover the Colony is operating under a false premise. The group believes in an old exaggeration told by Ra’s al Ghul is true and that hundreds of Gotham citizens are members of a shadowy terrorist organization. Now Batman and the team will have to save those people, if they get out of here alive, that is! The final pieces of exposition are put into place in this issue. Now Batman and the team will have to save those people, if they get out of here alive, that is! The final pieces of exposition are put into place in this issue. We learn the more about the Colony’s origins and Jacob Kane’s dedication to this misguided group. As I’ve said before, Kane is interesting because he is a believer and really does have good intentions at the base of his motivations, he’s just lost his way over the years and warped this group’s direction and purpose. But now that same dedication is blinding him to his mistakes and he feels his daughter is betraying him on top of it all. It provides good soil to grow this story in. Martinez’s art continues to impress as some of his biggest spreads this issue are more emotional than action-oriented. Early in the issue there’s a nice spread of a flashback between Jacob and Kate and it’s pure emotion, no violence or combat. It’s amazing to see an emotional scene presented in such a big way. A compelling issue that sets the table for the wrap-up to the storyline.

So, I'm totally reading this because of Stephanie. While the reboot brought a lot of changes to her character, I will forever love her - even if this version is slightly shittier. This series has been hard for me to get into. I don't know if I rated this book so high because I actually liked it, or if compared to all the others in this series it was just that much better. I like that this series has admitted that Tim talks down to Steph a bit, but I don't like that they're in a relationship beca So, I'm totally reading this because of Stephanie. I'm gonna keep reading and hope the issues keep getting better.

I think the art for the flashback in the beginning was better than the art in the rest of the issue.

Beide Storylines führen auf das „Night oft he Monster Men“-Event hin. Dieses besteht dann aus jeweils 2 Ausgaben Detective Comics, Batman und Nightwing. Dazu gibt es noch die Frisch gestartete „Allstar Batman“-Reihe. Herrlich viel Stoff für Batman-Fans also!

Tynion IV does a brilliant job of utilising flashbacks to show what motivates the series' antagonist, while also making that character sympathetic. We now know the ambition. We know what drives them and we can agree with it. Then we switch to see where our protagonists fit, and we also recognise that there can be no compromise. We know a new story can be told with established characters. That these tales can be personal to each. The creative team does an excellent job of giving each of the many characters their interactions, their moments to shine, their showcases of strengths and weaknesses...I'm just so glad to be around for this. Batman comics are making me excited again.

The Batman gang made up of Batwoman, Red Robin, Orphan, Spoiler, and Clayface break into The Colony's headquarters to rescue Batman. This issue had a lot of action and some great past scenes between Batwoman and her father. I love the conversation that Red Robin and the nerdy tech guy of The Colony has before and while fighting. Orphan is definitely my favorite character, she is probably the best fighter out of the whole gang, including Batman, and just stays mostly silent the whole time. This was part 5 of the Rise of the Batman story arc. I believe there is one more issue before this arc ends.

Every villain believes he is doing the right thing. In this issue, you find out why Col. Kane thinks he's on the right side of this and why he wants Kate on his side. As much as we have seen Batman team up, he has always been more comfortable alone. It's really difficult for him to let someone else lead. You can see that Batwoman is taking the lead on this rescue mission and Batman doesn't much like being rescued.

I like that we finally got some background on Kate's dad. I love how this is unfolding, though it is relatively similar to any number of action movies. But I like how they're doing it. Orphan is so badass, I can't even stand it.

Cannot believe how good this book is. Love what it's doing for Kate and like the way all the players interact. Despise the mouthy little hacker kid. But otherwise this book is perfect.

I've got to say that this arc is going much better than it sounded on paper. I like the idea of having 'Tec focus on the larger Bat-family while "Batman" focuses on Bruce alone.

Really great. Tynion continues to be able to juggle the large cast exceedingly well--I thought everyone got a moment to shine in this issue, and the plot progression was good as well.

For my money, still the gold standard for the Rebirth launch. It is simply amazing how well Tynion balances the story with character and action. Bravo.
