This debut novel by Lynsey Stewart draws you into her characters' world and makes you feel like you are there with them, living side-by-side. The author is decidedly British as is her writing. I’ll admit. I spent a lot of the first half of the book building a hatred for Luke and wanting to take Elle under my wing. And while I hate that that ass got so much time dedicated to him, it was done skillfully and resulted in those feelings we’ve all had…Why did I waste so much time on him? It was necessary. It built layers of experience. It made us appreciate the magic of what comes after. It showcases perfectly, that sometimes you have to wade through a lot of crap to find the happy. Elle is lovely. She’s a sweet girl with not a lot of confidence. She has great parents-maybe her mom is a little too focused on her “getting out there”, but, really a very normal upbringing. What she is truly blessed with is an amazing group of friends. Abi, Gem, and Kate are her tribe and they are fantastic in the way only good friends can be. Actually, I’m completely jealous of her and her friends! They are always ready with chocolate and wine...or tequila for any occasion. And for support when Elle truly sees Luke for what he is… The prize. The magic. The love, makes it all worthwhile. Ben is everything that Luke isn’t, and thank god! The development of their relationship is magnificent. This is so hard-I don’t want to give too much away. I want you to experience the fall. Ben and Elle are not a fairy-tale. They are not without bumps and problems. But they couldn’t be better suited for each other. The only thing this book leaves you wanting for is more. Which friend’s story is next? I can’t wait for more!

I Voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book So a debut novel by a new author. And you never know what to expect. So I am not going to say much but that this was definitely a surprise. I can tell you that when you read this book you will feel like you are right there going through everything that Elle is going through. Elle is a 23 year old virgin living with her parent. She is a social worker and all she is living for now is having fun with her best friend Abi. Not too much fun as she is still a virgin. Luke is Elle's mentor from her early days as a social worker. And they lost contact when she was moved to a different team until they meet again. Luke is a cocky too much confidence for Elle's fantasy man who is a dark haired man and he is blond. But he definitely gets her riled up. But one other problem Luke is not the commitment type of person either, so is he the right one for her??? But then she meets Ben and she instantly feels that connection with Ben. And there is nothing that I can tell you I didn't like about Ben. And for me I think that Ben was just what she needed and exactly what she wanted. But again is he the one for her. This book is about a girl who in the beginning is not that sure of herself and what she wants. But as she goes through this two relationships she becomes stronger and more confident and in the end I think you will be pleasantly surprised on the outcome of her journey.

Elle's support system is her bunch of girlfriends, again something which all women can relate to. The supportive mom, who wants the best for Elle, but at the same time is fearful that she isn't doing enough to find the right guy is someone that most girls have experienced. You can't wear rose tinted glasses while looking for love but Elle's journey as she realizes that she doesn't need to settle for less than perfect is a beautiful read. Hold on to your dreams, Elle says to you. Life's ups and downs may just be taking you there. Enjoy it!

Great Story! This is a fantastic debut story from this author. Elle is a twenty something struggling with issues that women at various stages in life can relate to. We watch her struggle and grow as she has to learn the hard way to make the best decisions. I enjoyed the realistic portrayal of dating, both good and bad. It was a little tough for me at the beginning, but I am glad I continued. The story was funny and steamy. I look forward to more stories from this author.

This book had me wanting to reach into the pages and just shake Elle, scream some sense into her. For both Luke and Ben. Abi was super awesome, my favorite and the grandma of course. This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers. To view it, click here. Fantastic debut novel! I loved Elle and could relate in that we both got a late start in relationships... I wanted so badly to like Luke but he truly is a fucknugget, and I worried about Bens OCD tendencies, but adore him as a boyfriend. I will certainly be looking for more by this author!!

I really thought that Elle was going to stick with Luke and help him through his problems, that he would realise how great she was and let her into his heart fully, but no, it wasn’t meant to be. Que curve ball in the form of Ben. Ben is sheer perfection for Elle and whilst at first I wasn’t vying for them to be together because I thought Luke would be her one, I have to say as Bens story unfolded my heart melted for him and then every time Luke was mentioned I would mentally slap him and push her toward Ben. 😂 The final heart melting moment was Bens confession to her long after the fact, that he was a virgin and he had waited for her, for his one and only. My heart broke for them both as I knew how important it was to Elle to save herself. But once again Ben was brave and honest and said it was ok, she had to have loved and lost to know what true love was with him. Swoon!! This book consumed me for what felt like weeks, there were so many emotions in it that I felt I was right there with the characters. Brilliant writing and I can’t wait to read more.

Firstly I would like to say for a debut novel this is just spectacular, just how everything was put together and the story was just so special and beautifully written. I loved how this story was based on loving someone for all their faults but it also showed we can't change people if they don't want to be changed. I also loved how this was based around virginity, I think sex is a super special part of a relationship and I think this book just showed you don't have to sleep around and save it for Firstly I would like to say for a debut novel this is just spectacular, just how everything was put together and the story was just so special and beautifully written. I also loved how this was based around virginity, I think sex is a super special part of a relationship and I think this book just showed you don't have to sleep around and save it for that special someone. I loved Elle she was so innocent and a little naive at times, but aren't we all. She had such low self-worth and she never really had confidence and when you’re in a relationship that doesn't help you love yourself and makes that self-worth worse then, you have to be strong and that's exactly what Elle showed us and I love that in a character. I wanted to scream at Elle for being not confident and unsure but I think at some point every girl has these feelings but in the end it made her stronger and choose the right guy in the end Luke, he is your arrogant piece of work that you want to change and feel really special because he chose you, but the way he was so self-destructive was so hard to read because I wanted to get into the book and help him myself, even though I disliked his character at the start I still felt the need that he needed fixing. Ben was gorgeous, shy, sexy, thoughtful, caring and just your dream guy that all us single girls dream would love us. I feel for Elle that she didn't believe that she was good enough and that really pulled her away from Ben. He was such a thoughtful character and all I wanted to do was just get in there and give him a big hug. I love that this book made me , laugh, cry, it made me really feel like I was in the story and I can't wait for more from Lynsey m Stewart I'm really excited. 5 Stars for this book and if you feel like a sweet and well written book then this is the one for you 

A wonderful romantic story When reading the first book published by a new author, you never know what to expect. But I'm glad to have stumbled upon this wonderful story. I have to admit I had to push a bit in the beginning. It may have been me, or maybe I thought I knew where the story was going, but I'm so glad I did. Because I was rewarded with a truly amazing story and I can't wait to read more. I don't want to go into plot because that's no fun! I just recommend you read! Lynsey enters the writing scene with a freakin bang with this book. It was comically brilliant, superbly witty, and the journey of self discovery and love is incredibly scripted. I cannot count how many times I truly laughed out loud while reading!!! I want to point out that lately, while they may be fantastic, a lot of the Romantic Comedies I have read are really fast paced and short. Lynsey gives you so much with this story line, leaving no stones buried. The development of the characters (and Lynsey enters the writing scene with a freakin bang with this book. Lynsey gives you so much with this story line, leaving no stones buried. The development of the characters (and not just the main ones) was done in a fantastic story telling way. Early on in the book you are given so much into the background of the main character, Elle, and you are offered the opportunity to get into her mind extensively. The way Lynsey writes, you can really FEEL what Elle feels on her journey to becoming who she wants and needs to be. Elle has the worst case of self doubt and this makes her an endearing leading lady. "I was fearful of the pain, fearful of rejection. If I didn't fall in the first place, I wouldn't experience the crush if it all went wrong." "Embarrassment was becoming a natural part of my existence. I wore humiliation like a stripper wore sexual confidence." Her fear of rejection and failing in regards to anything is so profound, and you will want to climb into your Kindle and hug her close to let her know it will all be okay. The relationships she has with her closest friends was also a highlight for me! (Please tell me they all get a book!!!) Even though Elle is the main POV, you are given enough of the friends backgrounds and current situations to feel like they were your besties too. Each one brings something to the table of their friendship and adds to the hilarity of the story line! "When it came to friends, I chose well." Another little surprise was the two extra chapters with a new POV from characters.....so awesome! Going along for the ride with Elle, you will laugh, you will cry, you will have the desire to throat punch a certain individual, and you will also become her biggest cheerleader. I clipped so much from this book.....but I wanted to leave you with one part that I. Just. Absolutely. Loved. "What was wrong with me? Maybe my journey into the world of relationships and sex wasn't going to come naturally to me. If I couldn't hold his gaze, how the hell was I going to hold his penis?" :)

A realistic and fabulous love story from a debut author ❤️ I was hooked from the first two lines: "The morning after the night before. Six words that conjure up images that can’t help but put a smile on your face as you reminisce about the events of a wild Saturday night." Meet Elle - a 23 year old virgin who still live with her parents. A social worker by day, Elle and her best friend Abi have wild weekends to make up for the hard work that is their careers. But unfortunately for Elle those wild weekends are yet to include sex... Until we meet Luke - Elle's first mentor (and crush) from her early days in social work. Having moved to another team, Elle lost Luke's friendship and flirty banter but a chance encounter reignites what they once shared. Luke isn't the "dream man" Elle has always envisioned - he skirts the line between being cocky and having confidence, plus his blonde hair and blue eyes don't match the dark haired man of Elle's fantasies - but he sure unleashes Elle's sexual side. But with a whole load of baggage and no desire for commitment, is Luke really the man for Elle? It was frustrating - yet realistic - watching Elle flip flop between running after Luke and trying to let him go. And Luke was equally as exasperating as he gave Elle so many mixed signals I'm surprised she knew which way she was going. But then comes Ben (and can I warn you that the blurb makes it sound like Ben will turn up a lot earlier in the book then he does - but hold on he's definitely worth the wait) and the chance for romance like in Elle's dreams comes with him. A fast yet real feeling connection happens and I really enjoyed Elle and Ben's banter and flirting. But is Elle ready to give herself over to a fairytale romance and will Ben be the one to give it to her? For a debut novel, Lynsey has knocked this one out of the park. If I didn't know I wouldn't have picked it. The characters are all well rounded - especially Elle, but Abi is just fabulous (can't wait to read her story in Let Me Be Your Hope) and I absolutely adore Ben. The story is slow but worth reading and once things picked up (the second half of the story) I could barely put it down. Looking forward to more from Lynsey. She's a fantastic new addition to my must read, one click authors.

At first you think "Let Me Be Your First," by Lynsey M. Stewart, is just a sweet story. Quickly I discovered it’s a very realistic portrayal of a situation so many of today's female population faces. This story brings up some poignant issues that affect today's society in general. She keeps you engaged in the story from beginning to end. She knows how to turn a phrase. Without giving anything away I’d like to share a couple of my favorites: “I was a master at daydreaming. Quite simply a Cloud Walker.” “The girl in the mirror was frightened. Frightened of the future. Frightened of making the changes necessary to live the life she wanted.” “I had been living my life but not feeling my life.” I wanted to kiss his mouth until I was raw with stubble rash.” The above is just a sampling of the thought provoking writing of the author. Lynsey has written some very interesting friends into the story. I’m hoping to see these friends again in future books. I’m even hoping the main characters in this book make an appearance in future books. As I said, the story starts out sweet. It gets real, quick and weaves the twists and turns into a realistic story you can identify with. This author has done a fine job of drawing me in. I look forward to future books in this series. Kudos, Lynsey M. Stewart!

It reminds you of the awkwardness of young teenage/adult life & how you try to handle the situations by over analyzing or just being insecure. With the support of amazing girlfriends similar to the sex & city ladies to help you get through after that bad breakup or to just hold your hand through it all. And to always remember that your Prince Charming may not be perfect, but he is perfect for you & you will get a happily ever after. I re A great story about your firsts. I truly enjoyed this book. It was a good read. It plays out like some of what you hear today as relationships form, work, then fizzle. You get the story of one peron who has an issue taking life as it comes and place her in the dating world. Elle wants to love and be loved and this book is taking you on her journey to finally getting what she wants. Luke cannot break from his past issues, while Ben is trying to do just that. In the end Elle makes the best decision for heself and learns that love comes in different forms a It was a good read. What a fantastic book! I saw so much of myself in Elle in her quest for finding love. Sometimes it’s difficult to see that the person you are with isn’t the one for you. Elle goes through a lot to realize the relationship she’s in is not healthy. There’s a lot of take away messages in this book but one of my favorites is that relationships shouldn’t be hard and if they are then maybe it’s time to walk away. This was such a fun and funny book! I instantly fell in love with Elle's humor and personality. She got herself into some pretty interesting situations that kept the pages turning. I can say that I wasn't sure where the author was going with this story for a while. There were times I wanted to shake Elle and tell her some choice words, but I was pleasantly surprised at how her story turned out. I definitely recommend this read!

This is the first book that I have read by Lynsey M. Stewart and she definitely did not disappoint! The great storyline was beautifully written and the characters were very likeable and they drew me into their story from the very beginning and kept me totally captured until the very end! I look forward to reading more from this author! I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.

I really enjoyed this book. Elle reminds me very much of me at the same age in so many ways that it was so easy to relate to her - even down to the boyfriend who was so totally wrong, yet completely addictive. A story of two halves, the tale follows Elle as she tries to navigate her way through the challenges of not only falling, but also staying, in love and whether the person you are with is, in fact, THE ONE. It is a bit of a rocky journey and, written almost exclusively from Elle's point of view, it is as though we are experiencing her roller-coaster of emotions first hand. Beautifully written in a style that is both lively yet measured, with a wonderful collection of characters - from Elle, to her group of friends, to the two men in her life - Let me Be Your First is an outstanding debut novel and I can't wait to read more by this author.

First love Let Me Be Your First is a beautiful story about a young woman who is looking for a perfect love. Engrossing I loved this book! A young inexperienced woman with two men in her life. A choice to be made. Think you've read this story before? Think again. Told almost entirely from Elle's POV, it is two chapters told by each of the men's POV that sets this book apart and makes it so very interesting. Add in fiercely loyal friends, exuberant family members and you have a winner!
