I’ve always struggled with reading poetry but Oscar Wilde writes like the everyman and so it’s much easier to understand. I still had to reread many poems to catch the meaning, or move to a quieter room, but overall I enjoyed the book of poems. Requiescat was my favorite, likely because I recently lost a family member and this sounded like a nice tribute to her.

The Poetry of Oscar Wilde collects the greatest and most well-known poems of acclaimed novelist and playwright, Oscar Wilde. It was an interesting change of pace for me to read this poetry book. I enjoyed Wilde's interpretations of myths and legends, and a lot of lines were really impactful.

Of all the poetry books I’ve read this year, this was the best one in my opinion. I got through it in a week and could understand a decent number of the poems. I don’t really know what else to say about this. It was a little boring, but I just don’t like poetry collections as much as other books.

3.5 Yeah, I'm not smart enough for this lol. After reading Dorian Gray, I was a little surprised by the repeated allusions to mythology, God, and Cromwell in place of more modern commentary. But Wilde clearly had gift for language, so I liked it.
