Okie dokie, here we go. Anthology time. Time to decide which authors I read for the prison trend, which to avoid and the ones that will go on my TBR for a long time. 1. Resisting her by Heather Renee Not RH but the set up reads as one. Read from the guy’s POV and the blurb for the main book. It’s alright but nah. Cranky guy in denial. 3 stars. 2. Read from the guy’s POV and the blurb for the main book. It’s alright but nah. Cranky guy in denial. 3 stars. 2. The midnight breakout by Megan Linski & Alicia Rades. Another one not RH. I liked the writing style and seems it would be entertaining. The couple in this one were horribly naive and bordering TSTL. 3 stars. 3. Rebel academy prequel by Rosemary A Johns Gimme. I need it but doesn’t come out until May. Sad face. Reverse harem. Loki’s son, a shifter mage pathological liar and a cuddly incubus. I am hyped for this one. 5 stars. 4. Darkblood prison by G.K DeRosa. Probably not an RH. POV from Logan the new gargoyle warden’s first day. Spin off. Probably won’t be on my list. 3 stars. 5. Academy for supernatural felons prequel by Corrine O’Flynn. Not RH but has potential. Undercover magi cops. Not one I feel like jumping to read but a possibility. 3.5 stars. 6. Eventide shifter prison prequel by Eva Brandt. Not RH. Dark omegaverse. A familiar author to me and I like the style. This one is a bit rapey so no thanks. 3 stars. 7. Unchained by Margo Bond Collins. This was one of the first prison books I pre-ordered. It sounded different and new. After reading a snippet, I’m happy with my decision and look forward to the book itself. 5 stars. 8. A bad break by Nicole Zoltack. I liked the writing style, the story was pretty chaotic and interesting. May give this one a shot. 4 stars. 9. Wrongly convicted by Wendi L. Wilson. Not RH. Fairies. This one was pretty cruel, felt sorry for Asher and him being a jerk felt awkward. It was okay but not for me. 3 stars. 10. Darkling penitentiary prequel by Stephany Wallace. Myth themed. I got bored by chapter 7. Feels like the Greek version of Romeo and Juliet. With Kratos all I could think of was God of war. DNF. 11. Dark moon prison prequel by Cara Wylde. Hell no. Omegaverse prison guard rapey torture bullshit. Nope. Nope and nope. 1 star. 12. Darkwater reformatory prequel by Marty Mayberry. It was alright. The characters are young but pretty do or die. Might give this one a go. 3 stars. 13. Tangle wood penitentiary by Alice Wilde. Not too sure on this one. All the characters are a holes. Looks like experimentation imprisonment. Will need to find out more, prequel tells me nothing. 3 stars. 14. Prison of vampires by D.A. Stein. Probably not. Ménage. Abusive and rapist guards and something that feels like a cult/religion. I did like the writing style though. 3 stars. 15. A maximum magical penitentiary prequel by Ginna Moran. I liked the writing style and the characters. Struggled with the story a little. Almost DNF at chapter 5 but continued on. Without the drama it was sweet, a little fast and I liked the guys. RH. 3.5 stars. 16. Patient zero by Sullivan Gray. Not RH. One worth a read. Would need to read Kurt’s story first but I liked the characters and the plot seems interesting. 4 stars. 17. Academy for supernatural felons prequel by Lisa Manifold. Throughout this one it was a case of dejavu. The names and the setting. It wasn’t until the end that it was confirmed. It’s a parallel prequel of number 5, this time with the half vampire Dahlia, instead of the mind reader Lily. Not RH. I liked it the same as Lily’s prequel. 3.5 stars. 18. Ashford asylum prequel by Ashleigh Ford. RH. Introduction wise it runs along the same lines as Mad girl: locked up and whilst I didn’t end up enjoying that one, this one seems to have more mystery to the guys and the fmc has her own trauma, so fingers crossed. 4 stars. 19. Caged by truth by Atlas Rose. RH. I liked it. Quick, already with the guys and sex. Felt like being tossed in the deep end. 3.5 stars. 20. Psychic prisoner prisoner by Samantha Bell. Not RH. Spinoff. Fast, violent with a whirlwind romance and escape. Maybe. 3 stars. 21. Gifted by Selene Drake. Not RH. Really short. Seems interesting. Has a little mermaid gets punished feeling. 3.5 stars. 22. Friend or fae by Kate Karyus Quinn, Demitria Lunetta and Marley Lynn. This one I liked. No clue what’s going on but it was fun, sassy and violent. Downloaded the other two prequels. Looking forward to the main book. 5 stars. 23. A werewolf’s oath by M.A. Roth. I liked it. Wolf and a vampire trying to protect a girl. A little crazy. Should be interesting. 4 stars. 24. Trapped by K.D Atkins. Not RH. This is gonna be a good one. So many emotions and that’s just the prequel. The main story is gonna be hard but worth a shot. 4 stars. 25. Xan the man by Aella Black. Straight forward prequel introducing the characters, doesn’t give much away. 4 stars. 26. Taken by Khardine Gray as Faith Summers. It was alright but not one for characters harping on about prophecy. Gonna skip this one. 3 stars. 27. Vamp camp prequel by C.L Riley and Sapphire Stone. RH. Alien vampires. This is another one I was looking out for. The prequel was fast paced, multiple POV and kinda sweet. 4.5 stars. And done. Some to look out for, some meh and a few to AVOID. Nice little anthology.

Note: I received a free soft copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Trapped by K.D Atkins is one of the short stories in this anthology. The story started with the simple goal of three wizard friends aiming to see magical creatures during Halloween, what happens after is a whirlwind of adventure that left one of them changed and threatened to be imprisoned, unless, he finds a cure- a cure that'll cause him more than what he could ever imagine. The story started with the simple goal of three wizard friends aiming to see magical creatures during Halloween, what happens after is a whirlwind of adventure that left one of them changed and threatened to be imprisoned, unless, he finds a cure- a cure that'll cause him more than what he could ever imagine. While the story started a bit confusing- i.e. being thrown into a vast magical world, it did get better as the story progressed. The world building flowed steadily with the story, which I came to appreciate later on. It is not lore heavy, but once the actual mission or adventure in the story takes place, the book becomes gripping and the plot and its twists get better. Although, I have an issue with the amount of creatures and characters in this story- there's just too many of them mentioned, and I'm not entirely sure whom are important and whom aren't; as when the book ended it wasn't really divulged what the main objectives of these characters are. Either way, I enjoyed reading this short story and I'm hoping that these issues would get resolved on the upcoming installments.

He was a shimage.... The most coveted, and hated, of all magical beings. Imprisoned physically, emotionally and mentally, Fox is resigned to his fate... Until his father died... Sent to the witch-run Rebel Academy, Fox is stunned by his reception... And his attraction to an incubus and the son of a god. But perhaps his biggest surprise was Rebel Ghost, and the mystery of her presence at the Academy... "I had to save Rebel Ghost." – Fox Haunting.... Subtle threads bind, twist and weave, until the truth is a lie, and a lie becomes the truth... A captivating prequel to what will be.... Can't wait!

Just a heads up...this thread will hold multiple reviews, so it will be quite long. But the entertainment is hopefully priceless lol. I will remove the reviews and place them into the correct books once the authors have released their installments separately. But the entertainment is hopefully priceless lol. I will remove the reviews and place them into the correct books once the authors have released their installments separately. Thank you for taking the time to read! ❤️ Patient Zero by Sully Gray Some of you may have heard about a new anthology that is releasing soon, 18th of March, I believe. It's a YA Supernatural Prison collections, and I've just finished reading one of those stories...which is the one I'll be reviewing today. A lot of you that have followed my reviews from the beginning will know that I was completely hooked on a series called Blakemore Academy...I can't remember if I mentioned it in my review or not for the final book in that series, but I remember talking to Sully about needing a story or a bonus scene just something, anything lol for one of my favourite characters Kurt!...and what ya know...It's here guys and this is the prequel to a series just for him!! And by all the stars in the skies, it's fan-flippin'-tastic! I'm already hooked and I need more of this!! There just wasn't enough in this prequel...like dude that was just too short. And then I realised the first book - Blakemore Supernatural Prison: First Sentence - isn't released until the 17th June! So again I feel it necessary to say... Yes this is actually a very common phrase for me lol. Anyways, back to this story...Sully is just lucky I love her, even though I'm certain she's trying to make me work on something called "patience"....Ugh...book patience is not a muscle I like to exercise. The good thing though is that her works are all worth waiting for...so that's something...so if you anything like me, just go and pre-order that book that way you feel like you ahead of something. Weird thinking coz it doesn't change anything but Coz that's how I try and trick my brains lol. Okay, okay I'm going to move onto the story summary part now...get ready to welcome in some new characters...that's right peeps you gonna fall in love with...even in this short prequel, really couldn't it have been a wee bit longer Sully? (hehe gotto stir where I can 😉). Get ready to welcome into your heart, Kalli...if you're anything like me you'll love her...and you'll love her "bleeding heart". Her father may have thought of it as a weakness but I loved it, it's a good thing...we need more of that, especially in a society where we are always being told similar things. Anyways, the story starts with Kalli starting a new job in Blakemore Supernatural Prison as a Healer. You can probably imagine that she's going to have issues and it's not going to be easy. Especially with people thinking its not really a woman's place to work in a place like a prison. I can't wait for Kalli to prove them all wrong. I can tell she gonna kick some butt. Yep, yep. Her first day gets right into it. A man is rushed in bleeding and Kalli and one of her new partners, Virgil rush to work. But one thing special about Kalli is that she's not a typical Supe. She has more than one ability. Not only is she a healer but she can read thoughts by touch and maybe something more... And...as she is working on her first patient she reads his thoughts (which is kinda illegal but whatevs haha)...and she is haunted by the words she hears. You thought I'd tell you what those were? ha nope it's called... But anywho, we will just say when Kalli turns up for her second day of work she's surprised when she has a new partner for the day...Patrick... I don't think he has beady eyes or a giant head (unless you include his ego)...but you get the point lol From the moment I met this guy, like Kalli, I didn't trust him or even like him...he's def up to something shady. I would have to agree with that Scott! I have a good shady radar. And he and many others are def up to no good. I won't say much more on the goings down because its only a prequel book and you gotto be doing some exploring too...just enjoy the read, no matter how short 😉 because it is opening the doors to this world. And oh how grandly so. I literally cannot wait to see where this story goes...Like I had to really hold myself back from begging for more lol. Like I just want to know what's going on behind closed doors at the Prison. Like what the Hades are they doing to the prisoners?! Some really shady stuff can happen in prisons, we all know that....and I can't wait to find out what it is and how Kurt and Kalli uncover it all while being awesome (although my heart is already hurting for Kurt because he kinda a prisoner - eek *freak out*)... but they'll work it out, while totally falling in love...that's going to be happening too. That's all it will take.... Okay, I think that's where I'm gonna leave it. Just promise me you'll read the book. You'll regret it if you don't...fans of the Blakemore Academy books, I'm sure I don't need me to do much convincing coz why wouldn't you want to?! To everyone else, if you haven't read those other books, I highly suggest it because it'll make you fall for Kurt as much as I did. Sorry Cade and Bash, it's time to take the backseat on this one...it's time for Kurt to have his moment. Between Heather and Sully I may have just found a new genre to crash into. Bring on all the Paranormal Prison worlds. Thanks to the awesome as always Sully for giving me a sneak peak into your new world. --- Call Me Wicked by Marty Mayberry So after my review of Patient Zero, a few authors recently reached out to me, to review a few of the short stories within the Magic Is The New Black Anthology...that is now releasing very soon...not long at all to wait...and guys so far what I have read is blowing my mind. So go preorder yourself this limited edition collection right now! This very short prequel, yes I'm at that again...why, why did it have to be so short?! Six chapters just will not do! And I just checked and the first book to this series doesn't come out until like the middle of June! That's forever away! Well I'm not in America I'm in Australia but you get my point! I just realised I never actually finished my first sentence properly 😂🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️All these authors are seriously on a mission of breaking my brain...and I think it's working... Back to my first sentence. This very short prequel to the new upcoming Darkwater Reformatory series was absa-bloomin-lutely fantastic! It took next to nothing for me to connect to the characters and legit from page one I was a goner! It was just so incredible how easily I fell for these guys and how much I emotionally connected to their situation. There is one guy in this story that dies trying to protect the MC from the brutal king and I was legit fighting back tears. The intensity of his love and sacrifice just hit me so hard. That's just what I call devotion. I just couldn't. Fari dinkum...I know that I am absolutely going to love this series, when I can get my hands on it. From the moment I read the blurb that was sent to me...my curiosity was spiked...but now it's so much more than that. Marty, you have not just gotten my attention you demanded it and pulled me right in. So a little about the story. As you know this is a prequel book and it sets the whole pace/tune for this new world we will get to dive into. This story was anything but slow. Expect that from page one you'll be taken on a non-stop journey. Right up until that ending! And boy does that end have you sitting on the edge of your seat...desperate for answers. That ↓ kinda felt like me internally lol. It was like so much was happening in my head that I couldn't hear or anything through the ruckus. And Marty don't worry about how much time I have. Coz for you, I will make the time so I can get the answers! 😁 Once again...I kinda got sidetracked lol...oopsie 🙊. Anyways...to put it simply...we have an evil fae king ruling, who likes to kill people, and we have Jaceylyn and her boyfriend, Rohnan, who is currently held prisoner by said king, simply because he's Jacelyn's boyfriend. You see the king had arranged a marriage for Jacey, since her dad is like third cousin or something to the man. And well Jacey says no so the king...so what does he do? Of course derh...punishes Rohnan to punish Jacey. See...twis-ted. So the book basically starts with her and her uncle trying to break Rohnan out so they can escape through this veil and join a people that had escaped the kingdom ages ago...but well not all goes to plan. Why can't plan A's just work out for once! I feel like I use this gif a lot lol But once again...it's true. And well the king catches onto this escape and well things go south...and fast. To not give the whole world away, I'm just going to say that Rohnan and Jacey end up in this prison, Darkwater...and it does not promise to be good. You see the Warden got news and she is basically going to give them hell or kill them. I think she's aiming more for the later...make the problem disappear so to speak. Right? But this prison is bad news...literally anything can happen here! And I mean anything. But one thing she was told was to make it to the reformatory, so they could still have a chance of escaping from the king. This reformatory offers a way to "graduate" from Darkwater but it requires a triad and to undertake some challenge. But I doubt it'll be that easy. It never is. So that's the new plan oh and the whole revenge thing on the king. For taking someone dear from her. “The king will pay,” I hissed into Rohnan’s shoulder, infusing my words with every speck of power remaining inside me. “I vow on my soul that I will find a way out of Darkwater and go after him.” And that's all I'm saying about this new world. I know you are going to love it too. So make sure you read it! This short story has it all and will leave you just wanting to read more. I know it has for me. Thanks to the incredible woman Marty for getting in contact with me to read your book. Feel free to contact me whenever you want 😀 like seriously lol. Man, I need to get my hands on that first book. I may just combust if I don't lol. You don't want that do you? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Obvi you are Piper and I'm the demon 😂 Anyways thanks so much!! I thoroughly enjoyed this read! Don't miss it guys! Cheerio! --- There are two more reviews that are coming but unfortunately can't be uploaded here as there is a word limit...and I just learnt it wouldn't take my third review lol...so if you are wanting to read them also....I do have a blog where all these reviews will be placed...and if you subscribe that means you can also stay up to date with all my new reads and rambles. I'd love if you wanted to follow. 😀 Read Ramble Repeat As always though thanks for following here and I hope these reviews are of some help. Happy Readings My Nerdy Friends

Love this collection First off I love books like this because you get a bunch of different authors and a bunch of different books to read that give you a taste of more from them. I have found so many new authors because of this amazing collection of stories that I can't wait to read more from them. From Ginna Moran: She gives us a little tease about how Nova's life got so complicated and a glimpse into her mom's world. This novella does a great job of explaining things that I had questions about. From Ginna Moran: She gives us a little tease about how Nova's life got so complicated and a glimpse into her mom's world. This novella does a great job of explaining things that I had questions about. I still have more and need more. From Sullivan Gray: we get to see my boy Kurt, but just a little glimpse of him. A tiny tease. This story focuses on Kalli and her start to her new job working as a healer at the Blakemore prison. Things are not what they seem and neither is she. I really need more, because the mystery this hints at has my wondering what is going on. From Wendi Wilson: We get Asher's point of view on his first impressions of Rory and his version of how he came to be at Oberon Faery Reformatory. I really enjoyed reading his story and his point of view. I can't wait for the next book because I am so excited to see where it goes. From Heather Renee: We get my book boyfriend Hawk, and his view of and feelings of when he first learned about Cara. And boy oh boy is it interesting to learn exactly what him and the other four were thinking when they got her file. This will give you a little taste of why I love this man.

Whether their sentences are forever or a day, every moment means life or death for paranormal prisoners as they deal with deadly secrets, mysteries, rivalries, and even love. Below is a quick review of two of the stories so you can see what is being offered! *** Reviewing PENUMBRA by Cara Wylde *** Muddy, long blond hair covered her face as she awakened after a bloody massacre, lying among torn limbs and bodies, naked and covered in blood and filth. Two men arrived, tied her up and threw her on the cold floor of a van. When she woke again, a bright light was shining on her as she sat bound tightly to a chair. She had no idea who these people were that spoke to her harshly and threatened her. One wore scrubs like a doctor; the other had a black and blue uniform with weapons hanging from a belt and she immediately feared him. She felt an uncomfortable fire burning constantly inside of her, making her so hot despite the cold room and her nakedness. The doctor at Dark Moon Prison repeatedly asked her questions, but she had no answers. Not that she was unwilling to tell him – but she had no memory of anything that had happened. Nor did she know her own name or what pack she was from! She heard the doctor call the man who wanted to force her to answer “Officer Stone”. Then the doctor came in to take blood and swabs of saliva. When he wanted samples from “elsewhere”, she would not cooperate and Officer Stone, with a cruel and distasteful look of disgust, joined him to force her compliance in whatever painful way he could think of. Afterward, the doctor left them so Officer Stone could “clean her up” which he chose to do himself rather than ask one of the nurses. He angrily looked her in the eyes and swore to her that by the end of the day, she would confess! She still had no idea what was going on! But it was clear that they couldn’t stop until they understand how a weak Omega could be capable of such ferocity… and they would make her suffer! The author’s detailed description of everything around them and the overwhelming events bring the story to life – and yes, you may sometimes choose to close your eyes! The twists and turns are almost too fast to follow! The tension never lets up as the reader is kept in the dark by the heroine’s memory loss! *** Reviewing CONNED AND CONVICTED: A VAMP CAMP PREQUEL by C.L. Riley *** After suffering world-wide devastation, “aliens” arrived on Earth to help. Only they weren’t aliens and they were not here to help. Creatures of myth and stories gathered up humanity. Vampires, werewolves, and an army of menacing monsters herded those humans who had survived into what they named “re-education camps”, which were actually just prisons in disguise. It was to keep us from making the same mistakes made in the past, or so they claimed. But actually, they just needed the blood. But as Skye finds out in her captivity, sometimes your enemy can become an ally and protector. If you don’t mind the fangs, having three vampires watch out for your safety and health around the clock, regardless of their reasons, is not a bad situation at all – and much better than what you deal with in high school! Grab this intriguing collection and explore the variety of stories. You will definitely never be bored!

The Rebel ghost is a female who is also trapped within the Academy. The third Rebel is the immortal son of Loki. Mages were usually sacrificed to the werewolves. Fox had a necklace that bound his powers made by his mother. At the Academy, Loki’s son removes it! They all share a brand on their hands that warns of danger or battle. The Academy is filled with secrets that Fox is determined to uncover and solve. He has a quest to save the Rebel ghost, but first he must discover why she is a ghost! Also, he has made an enemy of one of the teachers already! Enjoy this prequel to the new series and beware it is FULL of snarky humor that had me ROFL!

For Penumbra by Cara Wylde Wayyy to short. Just when the story started getting good it abruptly stops.... I cried. I was at a loss, because I was like wait, who, what or when. You will learn the main character's name towards the end. Alpha wolves in the story are brutes...but that's pretty typical of alpha males in all stories it seems. I was more confused in the beginning when she was picked up and in some kind of prison. Which becomes more apparent what it is as the story goes along. My review is for Wrongfully Convicted by Wendi L. Wilson. I absolutely loved First Infraction but often found myself wondering what was going on on Asher's head. Wrongfully Convicted answered ALL of my questions and more! I loved being in Asher's mind, it opened up so much more of the story for me. I was already having a hard time waiting for the next book and now......the suspense is just driving me insane! Thank you Wendi Wilson for another AMAZING story!

**Friend Or Fae** I throughly enjoyed this little story! It gives a backstory of "Amazon Academy" and a look into "Underworld Reformatory" I really enjoyed learning more about Shauna and her antics, and how she became a Pixie vampire! **Patient Zero** I really loved this short story, more stories from the "Blakemore Universe" and I can't wait to read more! I love Kalli's character and of course Kurt, the super hot vampire! Conned and Convicted by CL Riley This is a new author for me so I want sure what to expect. It started out a little confusing (may not be a good thing considering it's a short story and your MC is already confused). It was an okay story for me, but the Vampire reeducation thing occurring at summer camp was a weird setting for me. It was almost like the author was trying to great at a couple different genres - teen with the summer camp thing, adult with the 'whychoose', the 'it crowd' with the up & coming paranormal prison genre. So while I read this one, it wasn't one that had me marking any 'To be Read' on future books that may come from it. ************* Penumbra by Cara Wylde I'm an Omegaverse fan-girl. Like a true fan-girl, I like real, steamy dark story with substance that stays true to the Omegaverse world, not some cheesey, bad knockoff (there's a lot out there too, believe me ). Omegaverse is dark and not always easy to swallow, but by the end there is usually a profoundly deep love that all characters had to fight tooth and nail for. Dog-eat-dog and all that. So getting back on subject, this little piece will have you sitting back on your seat because it's only the dark of the world and it's painful too read. The abuse Wisteria goes through at the hands of the alpha wardens. She doesn't know, doesn't remember who, what, or where she is or did. The disadvantage that leaves her in puts her through hours of abuse, with her poor Omega body turning against her when she gets pawed at. The worst part is, she doesn't even remember her name. The Cliffie it leaves you at will have you wishing the full-length book was out so you could go rush to read it now cause that what I proceeded to do (I will be reading it as soon as it's out, though) **************”*** The Captive Alpha by Eva Brandt It's a battle between vampires and shifters and Wade is an alpha werewolve who just wants to protect his sister, even if it means trading his life for hers when his pack tries to escape from vampires. He knows it will mean getting sent to shifter prison, but he doesn't expect the new warden to be the vampire princess, who also happens to be an Omega that calls to his wolf. After one session of questioning gets a little too hot and heavy, Princess Rhia can feel the shift of power leave her at a disadvantage. She doesn't like it. She refuses to be a beast's Omega. After Rhia leaves Wade bound and broken on his cell floor, her doesn't know if he hates Rhia or wants to fight for her. I just know I want more. If I don't answer questions I know I am going to be tortured into answering. I don't even know if I can speak! When I don't answer, the Alpha tries his way. He brings me to a room to hose me off. Hey, I am a blonde! When that doesn't get his answers, he brings me to another cell and finds that even though I don't answer his questions, my body seems to speak to him just fine. They know that I am a virgin so most likely he won't rape me, but there are other ways that he can get answers. When that doesn't get answers, they bring in a kind, compassionate male who is supposed to be a religious person to get answers. When that doesn't work either, who knows what they will do next. That is where it leaves off, so now you HAVE to get the next book to get more answers to the question of what is her name, her age, her pack and did she really kill everyone in her pack and why? Review for Darkling Penitentiary: Dark Phoenix Rising by Stephany Wallace Well this is a little different reading than what I'm use to reading for Stephany. What I mean by this is, as I was reading it sounded like an old private investigator movie. You know those ones where the investigator narrates about what he is doing or what he finds? Aros is a Phoenix learning his power and skills by the hands of the God Kratos. Author, Stephany Wallace does an amazing job writing the emotions you read throughout this book. The emotions from Aros and another character (no spoilers) go through is magical and heart breaking. This is a great prequel by author Stephany Wallace, and I can’t wait to read the next book.
