He has a unique ability that can tell when others lie. Crimson’s Aquilo is his cousin. He has a less than stellar introduction to the headmistress of the coven, a Rebel ghost, and his mentor Crave (an incubi immortal). His new name is Confess at the Academy. The Rebel ghost is a female who is also trapped within the Academy. The third Rebel is the immortal son of Loki. Mages were usually sacrificed to the werewolves. Fox had a necklace that bound his powers made by his mother. At the Academy, Loki’s son removes it! They all share a brand on their hands that warns of danger or battle. The Academy is filled with secrets that Fox is determined to uncover and solve. He has a quest to save the Rebel ghost, but first he must discover why she is a ghost! Also, he has made an enemy of one of the teachers already! Enjoy this prequel to the new series and beware it is FULL of snarky humor that had me ROFL!

I received an ARC of Laura Greenwood's Lamps and Lies in exchange for an honest review. This was an interesting, gender swapped reimagining of a popular and beloved tale with a sweetly budding romance and a promise of more to come! I enjoyed it and look forward to more stories of Aly's life.

Queens Academy by Skye Mackinnon: I liked this. It was different to have a man as the main character. Time travel and history together actually work pretty well. I’m glad to see this will have a follow up story still to come.

Destiny Calling – Debbie Cassidy Cassidy is one of my favorite UF authors for things that go bump in the night and strong, kick-a** females who can hold their own. I really enjoyed her addition to the Academy of Spells and Wishes story collection. Even though Destiny Calling is a quick read, it is packed with all the exciting good stuff of her regular books and it definitely leaves you wanting more. I was hooked from the first page and was thoroughly pleased with the story. Trinity, Blake, and Lance were great characters, drawn to the same place by an unseen force and set to meet by destiny as old as time. Trinity and Blake, best friends since childhood, were two peas of the same pod and stuck together through the many ups and downs of their youth; and also for the fact that they were the only two who knew what really lingered in the shadows of their town, the things that go bump in the night…supernatural things. Both worked at a prestigious academy – Lunar Academy – as teachers during the day and donned their monster hunting masks at night. When strange things start happening in their small town they dive into the mystery knowing it to be supernatural and them being the only ones who can properly sort it out. Along with nightmares, a weird painting with a specific connection to Trinity, a mysterious stranger who shows up to rent a room at her B&B, and monsters coming out of the shadows speaking about a chosen one…things are really about to get interesting for her and Blake. And her new tenant, Lance, is he really friend or foe? A shocking turn of events will reveal his history and boy, is it a doozy. For a short read, this story packs a punch. Laughs, excitement, mystery, suspense, action, and intriguing twists are waiting to be enjoyed. Though I have only read the ARC for Cassidy’s Destiny Calling, I am looking forward to enjoying the rest of these quick tales by all the wonderful authors in this anthology when it is released.

This is a review of only one of the books included in this anthology, Queen's Academy by Skye MacKinnon. I unfortunately didn't have the time to finish the whole thing, but based on this one book, I will be finishing it soon. Drake has been dreaming of Mary Queen of Scots starting in his second year at the Academy. He's watched her grow up and up until the time she's crossing the channel into England, she's never acknowledged his presence. It's then she tells him he is her guardian angel, and she always knows when he is there. He makes one attempt at trying to save Mary from her fate and that fails. Years later his friend Seamus comes up with an idea, it's not ever going to be sanctioned but Drake has to try. Past meets present in a history lesson that makes everything personal. With a surprise or two as well. A short satisfying read, with love, emotions, and tears.

Trinity and Blake are teachers at a high-rated academy, two oddities among humans, set aside by their ability to see monsters and supernatural - an ability that brought them together, ability they bonded over. Unsettling events happening in the city bring them on track to solve the mystery - only all gets messed up the moment Lance, a tall dark and dangerous, appears as a new teacher at school, and the very same day, all hell breaks loose.. I really enjoyed this extra fast read, packed not only with fight scenes and suspense solving the mysteries, but also with intense emotions and an undercurrent of romantic emotions that have yet to bloom. I would really love to continue the story of Blake, Trinity, and Lance, and get to know them better.

Awesome Anthology! A group of awesome authors, including two of my favorites, Laura Greenwood and Debbie Cassidy. Special note on Cassidy's Destiny Calling. It starts off slow, but it kicked up real fast, and it was VERY well done for a short inside an anthology. The twist! Coming back after reading Laura Greene's story. It was a very nice academy Aladdin retelling. Keep in mind, it's a SHORT story, but it's complete without a cliffhanger, but it has an opportunity to expand.

Destiny’s Calling was a great short story. Trinity and Blake are bffs that work at the same school as teacher and at night they slay monsters, you know like normal best friends. A stranger moves into town and into Trinity’s home as well but there is nothing this girl can’t handle include a handsome face or hairy face depending on his form. It was so good I wish there was more. I hope there will be an actual book that follows.

Queen's Academy by Skye MacKinnon: This was a cute short story about Mary, Queen of Scotland and Drake, time travel agent and teacher at the academy. Without giving anything of importance away, you'll need to read about the journey these two take and figure out the ending on your own terms. The story is great for young adults that want to learn a bit more about history with a modern twist. Oh and Skye MacKinnon? I think we need to have a liiiiiiiiiiiiitle chat about you know what....

This review is for “Queen’s Academy” by Skye MacKinnon. Drake, a professor at the Time Travel Academy, has been dreaming about a beautiful woman for years. When he figures out his dream woman is Mary, Queen of the Scots, he must decide whether he should break all of the time travel rules to save her from her execution. This was a wonderful short story from the fabulous Ms. MacKinnon. I’m loving these short time travel stories. I received an ARC from the author. This is my honest review.

Thus far I have only read Debbie Cassidy's addition to this collection, Destiny Calling and what a fun little story it was. We get to see more of Trinity Lane and Blake, if you've read Shadow Warrior you will have definitely met these characters before. I'm not sure if Debbie plans to go further with these characters but if she does then I'm definitely in. It's a nice addition to the whole Nightwatch series as it shows another part of another location mentioned.

This review is for Queen's Academy by Skye MacKinnon. This book has a lot of emotions throughout. I love reading books that have history involved and this one is great. Drake has gone through TTA when he was younger and is now a teacher there. However, something happened after a time jump he did when he was in school. Now it has been affecting him for years. Until he does something crazy! Will it change the past? Be prepared for tears and wild emotions. You will love this quick read.

Destiny Calling By Debbie Cassidy I am a huge fan of Debbie so I was excited to read this short story, while this is a quick read, its also an engrossing read! It’s just enough to hook you and leave you wanting more! I am so curious as to what happens next! I am loving these characters and world building! Looking forward to reading more! Debbie is so creative with a knack for making such well developed characters, I know this is going to be a great series!

She is ready to gave up her own happiness and her own future to save someone’s else. When you are this beautiful in heart good things come for you finally. It was completely lovely.

Loved it This a definite must have for anyone that loves academy books. My favorites were Debbie Cassiday's Destiny Calling because I am crazy about King Arthur and the Knights of Camelot and I loved the spin to this story. My other favorite was Jessa Lucas' Spooky Simmons story. It was so sweet and heartfelt and had me looking at sorrow in a whole new light. Great read!

What an excellent way to be introduced to some great writers. The stories were introductions to series, novellas or prequels. None were huge cliffhangers but they certainly left me want to find out where the characters were heading next.

A wonderful collection of short stories written by some awesome writers. I loved all the stories but looked forward to Rosemary Johns Rebel Academy:Confess. It's about Fox a Shimage (which is a shifter/mage) and he tells of his cousin Aquilo who we have met in Rebel Werewolves. I look forward to reading more of Fox's (Confess's) story as his mage power is he can tell when people are telling the truth.
